We do have Don McAllister in the house for Chit Chat Across the Pond to talk about what the Geek Cruises are like, since he and Barbara are just back from a three week cruise where he actually worked the show.

This week we have a lot of great listener reviews (I might have done a bit of whining about not having enough time to create my usual plethora of content this week).

MAILTAGS REVIEW UPDATE

If you’d like to be alerted to breaking news, along with the regular weekly update after I post the show, then sign up for the NosillaCast News. What about laryngitis? It’s happened before, if you don’t believe me, listen to the April 8th, 2007 episode (there’s a link in the shownotes). While that’s a welcome surprise, what if something were to make me late, how would you know if you weren’t on the email list? What if, heaven forbid, I were in a car accident (and somehow Steve’s fingers were damaged so he couldn’t tweet to you? (and you KNOW he would if he could.) What if GoDaddy underwent a denial of service attack? Steve’s damaged tweeting fingers couldn’t help you then either. How exciting is that? If you had signed up for the NosillaCast News, you’d already know that though, everyone who entered their info in the form on got an email earlier in the week letting them know that things were going to be ahead of schedule this week. I’m traveling to Florida on Sunday, so we’re actually a day early. Today is Saturday March 5th, 2011 and this is show number 302.

Please spend your money somewhere more professional and honest.Shai Yamannee takes a break from cruising to review the RadTech ClearCal Anti-Glare Film for 15-inch Macbook Pro Unibody. As we walked out, the group of salesmen/managers exclaimed "THANK GOD!" Apparently a customer expecting to get the price listed on their website is too difficult for them to take. We insisted on seeing it, then when we questioned the "dealer prep fee" of $1295 (which was listed as $995 online), we were told it was "market price." After being jerked around for hours at this point, we decided to walk away because we didn't want to give our business to people who refused to honor what they had advertised. Then we get sent to the finance guy who asks us to sign a contract without even showing it to us. Never did he go over any fees/costs other than saying the price was what was listed online. This whole time the only number the salesman presented us with was the finance rate. (The customer they had kept waiting did come talk to us however!) We finally agreed to finance because we just wanted to get home. It was the typical "I'll talk to the manager" over and over though the manager never bothered to come talk to us.

They argued with us for a good hour about how we should just finance it and we could just pay it off in 30 days because it was better for them, forget about making the customer happy. After we decided we'd buy the car, they continued to have the other customer wait around, then refused to sell us the car unless we financed it because apparently the publicly advertised price on their website was conditional on being financed through Wells Fargo at a high rate, though that was not stated anywhere is writing. After the test drive they informed us there was someone else there to test drive it so we had to make our decision now. When we arrived we were greeted by a salesman who never even gave us his name. My first contact was great- they offered to hold the vehicle to make sure it was there when I arrived since I was traveling a good distance.
